Welcome to ACT's 2014 Spring production of The Hobbit.
We will be updating this page throughout the production, so be sure to check back here and refresh or reload your browser to make sure you are getting the latest information.
Auditions are scheduled for Thursday, March 6th 5:30–7:30 PM
In preparation for auditions, please:
Our first rehearsal will be Wednesday, March 19th from 5:00–7:00 PM at ACT. During this rehearsal, from 6:30–7:00 PM, we will also have a parent meeting to solicit volunteers to help with the production.
There will be no rehearsal on Thursday, March 20th. We will instead have an extra rehearsal on Tuesday, March 25th. We understand that some kids might not be available on that day, and that's fine. Whoever is in attendance will participate in a read-through of the play.
Official rehearsals start in earnest on Wednesday March 26 and Thursday March 27, and only certain characters will be called. You will be able to view the full rehearsal schedule, as well as your particular ACTor's rehearsal schedule, using the links on the right
Please check the rehearsal schedule on a frequent (daily) basis, since the director may be changing who is called from one rehearsal to the next.
Tech rehearsals for The Hobbit are Monday April 27th and Tuesday April 28th, and we have rehearsals every day that week until our first performance on Friday, May 2. Dress rehearsals are Wednesday April 30 and Thursday May 1.
Attendance is required for tech and dress rehearsals. If a cast member has a conflict on any of those days, please contact the producers immediately. There may be a small amount of flexibility for tech rehearsals, but both dress rehearsals are 100% mandatory.

Bilbo Baggins is a comfortably well-off hobbit with a love for rousing adventure stories. Real adventures, however, are definitely not his cup of tea. So when Gandalf the wizard knocks at Bilbo's door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, 11 ragged looking dwarfs, and a contract for an adventure to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested—at first. But Bilbo's love of a good story gets the better of him, and before he knows it, he is off on a perilous quest over mountain and under hill through caves and forest and slimy dark places.
