This is the eighth year that Arlington Center for the Arts has
produced a fall play for local schools and the sixth year that
ACT has collaborated on the production. This is always a great
opportunity to introduce a new generation to the wonder of live
theatre. This year's production is another classic from Roald
Dahl.
The BFG and Sophie team up to save the children of England from
the child-eating giants, Bloodbottler, Fleshlumpeater,
Bonecruncher, Meatdripper, Childchewer, and Gizzardgulper. They
are assisted by the Queen of England and the Heads of the Army and
Airforce with their helicopters. Locations include the BFG's cave
in Giant Country, Dream Country and Buckingham Palace.

*Autism-Friendly Performance: Saturday, Dec 14, Noon
Arlington Children's Theatre is excited to offer a special “Autism-Friendly”performance of Scrooge! The Musical, adapted specifically for children with autism or other sensory-related developmental disabilities, and their families. At these performances, the theater environment will be slightly altered, providing a safe, sensory-friendly and accessible theater experience for those on the autism spectrum. Adjustments to the production include maintaining a comfortable sound level, the elimination of loud and sudden noises and flashing lights, as well as keeping the house lights on, but dimmed throughout the performance. Our goal is to create a comfortable and judgment-free space that is welcoming for these families. Autism-Friendly Performances are recommended for those families bringing a loved one with a developmental disability, and their teachers and advocates who are familiar with, and accepting of, behaviors exhibited by some individuals with autism. Tickets for this performance will be $8.

Shrek is based on the Oscar ® winning Dreamworks movie.
In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre
— not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess.
Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie
with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the
kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his
name is Shrek.

Bilbo Baggins is a comfortably well-off hobbit with a love for
rousing adventure stories. Real adventures, however, are
definitely not his cup of tea. So when Gandalf the wizard knocks
at Bilbo's door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, 11 ragged
looking dwarfs, and a contract for an adventure to recover the
lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less
interested–at first. But Bilbo's love of a good story gets the
better of him, and before he knows it, he is off on a perilous
quest over mountain and under hill through caves and forest and
slimy dark places.

This fast-firing comedy does just that as it parodies all of the
Shakespeare plays (plus the sonnets!) in two acts. This play is
full of energy as the characters run across the stage and keep you
guessing how they will pull off the next play. Clever use of some
interesting costumes also adds to the fun. Usually performed by 3
actors, this high energy, hilarious production can be performed
with as many as 30!
